Why are my screenshots the wrong size?

If you're seeing errors while uploading screenshots to the App Store, it's usually due to a dimension mismatch.

By default, AppLaunchpad generates screenshots in 1290 Γ— 2796 resolution, which corresponds to 6.9-inch iPhone devices.

Many users accidentally try to upload these screenshots into the 6.5-inch slot, which leads to upload errors.

βœ… Correct way to upload screenshots

  • Upload 1290 Γ— 2796 screenshots to the 6.9-inch display section in App Store Connect

  • Do NOT upload them to 6.5-inch slots

πŸ‘‰ Apple automatically resizes your 6.9" screenshots for smaller devices (including 6.5")

πŸ”„ Need screenshots for other sizes (6.5", iPad, etc.)?

You have two options:

Option 1: Let Apple handle it (Recommended)

  • Just upload 6.9" screenshots

  • Apple will scale them automatically

Option 2: Generate specific sizes manually

If you want full control over each size:

  1. Open your design in AppLaunchpad

  2. Clone it to another device size (e.g., 6.5", iPad)

  3. Export the new screenshots

🚨 Common mistakes to avoid

  • Uploading 6.9" screenshots into 6.5" slots

  • Assuming all screenshot sizes are interchangeable

  • Not using the correct resolution for each device category

πŸ’‘ Summary

  • AppLaunchpad exports 6.9" screenshots (1290 Γ— 2796) by default

  • Upload them to the 6.9" section only

  • Apple handles resizing automatically

  • Use cloning if you need custom sizes
